I chose this image as the header as it perfectly sums up the fun we had on Horn Head!
Amanda & Ciaran 26.08.2017
Amanda contacted me from Australia to enquire about my Morning Dressing Service a few months before she was due to return home to Falcarragh to marry Ciaran on August 26th 2017. As with all bookings I ask the bride to send me a photo of her dress so I know what I might need on the morning. When Amanda told me that she didn’t have a photo because her dress was being made by a dressmaker in Australia, I was instantly intrigued to see this ‘fitted, lace mermaid’ gown!
When I arrived at Amanda’s parents’ house on a warm blustery Saturday morning I was greeted by a super chilled, super organised Bride and her family. When I walked into Amanda’s bedroom my eyes couldn’t even take in all the detail of my surroundings! Amanda’s stunning white lace dress was hanging alongside the striking emerald green Bridesmaid dresses and her Mums beautiful soft pink outfit. Every corner of the room had a little something detailing the relationship of Amanda and Ciaran, the attention to detail from this Bride was like nothing I’d ever seen before!
I have been to lots of Brides houses to assist in getting the Bridal party ready for the big day but few Bridesmaids have been as happy to have me there as these girls – they were more than happy to pass over the responsibility of helping Amanda shimmy into her knockout dress! With 5 bridesmaids, plus sisters, neighbours and Mum & Dad I found myself doing everything from dressing, sewing, curling hair, pinning buttonholes, moving furniture to directing traffic and popping corks!
Amanda had literally thought of every little detail, from matching PJs, confetti balloons, personalised sunglasses to the best Order of Service I have ever seen. Every item had a little sprinkle of Amanda’s magic touch. It’s amazing how quickly the time disappears on your Wedding Morning, even when everyone is relaxed and we were determined to be on time, until ………… a surprise Horse and Carriage arrived! We were busy minding our own business with the girls all posing for Pamela Bloe Photography when we heard the clip clop of the horse’s hooves. The look on Amanda’s face was priceless!
The giggly atmosphere of the morning disappeared slightly when we pulled up in front of the Church to be greeted by 100s of guests, all waiting outside to get a glimpse of the Bride. Amanda’s nerves kicked in and everyone felt the emotion of the day in an instant. We kept Amanda and her girls under cover in the car while we ushered the guests into the church – no peaking allowed!
On her Dads reassuring arm, Amanda’s bright smile returned as she glided down the aisle to the fabulous voice of Kelli McGrory Music Everyone’s eyes were on Amanda and Ciaran’s smile said it all as she reached him at the top of the alter. During the ceremony it was so lovely to watch Ciaran and Amanda sneak little glances and whisper quietly to each other. I just thought to myself – these two are Couple Goals!
Once the ceremony was complete and the obligatory lap of honour up Falcarragh Main St (in the horse and carriage of course!) was done we headed off in a convoy of Honda Civics up Horn Head in Dunfanaghy for the photo session. With this Bridal Party all we needed was some more alcohol and a bit of music and it would have ended up in a proper session! I always say that your Bridal Party is so important to help set the mood and add to your day – and this Bridal Party had to be one of the best. I would honestly hire those Groomsmen out as bridesmaids because they were just brilliant! From carrying Amanda’s train over the wettest of Bog Land (you can read more about that HERE), carrying bouquets and turning my car at the very top of Horn Head! These boys where just brilliant. The girls weren’t so bad either – they stood drinking bubbles and laughing at the men doing all the hard work lol
After all the fun at Horn Head we set off down the road to meet the guests waiting at the Silver Tassie Hotel. Amanda really had thought of everything for this Wedding and Lisa from I Do WoW Weddings had the elegant décor of the Church replicated in the Silver Tassie for the Reception - Beautiful Peonies, candlelight and subtle elegance. Sometimes when I’m working at a Wedding I think that I’d love to be a guest now and sit down and have the fun with everyone for the evening, this was one of those Weddings! Having never met Amanda or Ciaran’s before the big day, I left feeling that I was part of a very special family and that this would be a day I would remember fondly for years to come.
Thanks to Amanda, Ciaran and their families for making me feel so welcome on such a special day
